When the FBI approached Abdullah, he was ordered to freeze. Instead he took cover. In an attempt to moderate the use of force, the FBI sent a canine officer to approach Abdullah. Instead of surrendering, he drew a concealed weapon and shot and killed the canine officer.

SHOOTING A CANINE OFFICER CARRIES MANY OF THE SAME LEGAL REPERCUSSIONS OF SHOOTING A HUMAN LEO AND IS CONSIDERED WITHOUT QUESTION A LIFE THREATEN SITUATION FOR LEO.

Abdullah then fired three shots at the FBI SAs. The FBI SAs then returned fire, only after a canine officer had been killed AND being fired upon themselves.

Only after all of these leathal escalations by Abdullah was Abdullah shot and killed.

Drugs are not the only issue today with an “untold story” component. Check out http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=7077264&am... :
British investigators concluded, based on forensic evidence and intelligence reports, that the murder was a "state-sponsored" assassination orchestrated by Russian security services. Litvinenko was an outspoken critic of the Kremlin.

AND WHAT, EXACTLY, WERE LITVINENKO’S CRITICISMS? The MSM never seems to want to state them.

When the media mentions Litvinenko's assassination, they will say, like this article did, that "Litvinenko was an outspoken critic of the Kremlin." But they never state the specific criticisms.

So let’s be specific. Two of Litvinenko’s criticisms were that:
1.Putin and the FSB were behind the 1998 apartment building bombings that launched Putin to national prominence and the presidency and which was the catalyst for the Second Chechen War, and
2.that al-Qaeda's #2, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, is a trained FSB operative.

One would think such claims are relevant to a nation embroiled in a global war on terrorism.

No, I am not trying to sell a copy. And as for it being 10 years old and the information even older; what does that matter? The information in it is true and relevant today. That most professionals are ignorant of the contents should concern us all.

On a related topic, the Soviets and their eastern bloc satellites also use terrorism as an asymmetric weapon. They were/are the nexus of international terrorism for over 50 years, running a bull pen that included Carlos Ilyich Ramiros (Carlos the Jackal), Yassir Arafat, Saddam Hussein, and a host of others. There is an encyclopedic amount of data supporting this, yet we engage Russia as some sort of ally.

Or consider North Korea and Iran. They are emerging nuclear threats yet we don’t want to acknowledge that the only reason they have such technology is because Russia and China want them to.
Russia & China have their clandestine fingers into drugs, terrorism, rogue nations and a host of other asymmetric threats to America.

The point is that all of these facts must be included to have any meaningful strategic analysis of these problems.

You would be hard pressed to find a single DEA agent who has even heard of Red Cocaine, much less read it; despite having a professional responsibility to know such information.

While well intentioned, this blog author is trying to be sensational with what is at best tactical information. There is a strategic, existential threat to America that he is overlooking; so I doubt he read Red Cocaine as well.

The drug problem is actually much worse than this blog author writes and has strategic overtones involving the very real threats posed by Russia and China to America.

No doubt there are many indigenous bad actors, co-opted paramilitaries and politicians, etc. in the drug trade out to make a dishonest buck. But overlooked is the fact that that for fifty years the drug trade, globally, has been infiltrated and exploited as an asymmetric weapon by the KGB and associated communist intelligence services.

You can’t possible understand the “drug problem” without having read Red Cocaine:

Red Cocaine: The Drugging of America and the West by Joseph D. Douglass.

Douglass has dealt with these issues in a professional capacity working in the intelligence community and gets his information directly from high-ranking communist defectors.
