Does candy serve a purpose other than to contribute to the decay of our kids' teeth? I bought one just for fun and it really is just a sucker. There's a stick in the box and a resealable bag to keep it fresh. Do I smoke out of it? No. It's a silly novelty item, that's all. As far as 'senseless' is concerned, there are literally thousands of products that have no purpose. Cigarettes are within a child's sight, sometimes in their reach. Alchohol too. Those are senseless, even DEADLY. But people aren't fighting over whether or not those should be illegal are they? Instead we're all worried about a silly candy pipe? There are more newsworthy stories out there that can be reported on, really.

This is so blown out of proportion. This has not been marketed to kids. Yes it's made out of candy, but it's an adult novelty item, not sold in the candy section. In fact, the only place I've seen this product being sold is in tobacco stores and such. They're not giving enough information in this article for people to make a proper determination on how they feel about it. As for 711 carrying it, they sell beer and wine too correct? Well lets see...you're required to show ID for that, and cigarettes, and SUPPOSED to be carded for tobacco pipes like this one as well. So if you're watching what your children are spending your money on, this shouldn't fall into any child's hands. :)

Wow you stereotypical, ignorant people!! When the little girls from Mishawaka got hit the mother was given sympathy, love, compassion. Yet when a child from the west side gets hit it's the parents' fault? He should have been inside at 8 pm in the summer time when it's still sunny outside? Really? It doesn't even get completely dark until almost ten these days. And he was outside with an older sibling, correct? So there were probably other people around...do they all deserve to be 'beaten'? Do all people involved get blamed because the 3 year old decided to dart across the street? You are the same people that put leashes on their children. No one is perfect, not even you people.

I don't care what anyone says, they believed they were doing a good thing. The dogs were fed, dry, and they even made sure they had separate areas for puppies? Sounds almost as good as some shelters I've visited. Regardless of whether they were in a trailer or not, the effort was made to try to save these dogs.

My children were in foster care for a year and no one believed us when we told them that our child was abused. Nope, they blamed us! My kids were on the adoption registry 6 months in, before they even said anything about terminating parental rights!! We kept telling people that the social worker was just out to get us and it kept falling on deaf ears. Until the social worker got PROMOTED, then we were assigned a new one. Guess what? Our kids were returned in 3 months after we got a new worker! We've had them back for 2 years now and my 6 year old still wakes up screaming in the middle of the night because she thinks the evil witch is gonna come and abuse her again. Oh and by the way, when we accused the witch of abuse, she wanted our children out of her care because she suddenly wanted a 'break.' We also noticed things that she was doing wrong with her own kids. Like one time she brought ours for a visit and her one year old was chewing on a full dropper bottle of tylenol. Or how about when her 4 year old son wasn't in his car seat, but strapped in the front seat of her minivan? This same woman is married to a very prominent business man in Goshen and she abuses her foster children? Way to go Indiana. My point is the entire system is disgustingly corrupt and there's nothing that can be done about it simply because there are no lawyers brave enough to battle the state. We've tried. We need good foster parents, not just ones looking for the money. RIP Emily. So sorry that no one stood up for you. :'(

I love your post. I see sooo many people that do that crap!! Where I come from, parents put their children first. I know people that go hungry so their kids can eat. I took a friend to the welfare office one day because she got laid off and what do I see in the line? Long manicured nails, brand new clothes, nice updo's, come on!! If you're in the welfare line and still looking like you're rich, there's an obvious problem and it's not our governments fault there, it's priorities!! Don't get me wrong, I'm disgusted at our government right now, but to say that ALL of the hunger problem is theirs? It's ridiculous.

Any animal, dog, cat, etc. can be deadly if someone is bitten hard enough, in the wrong spot, or if the attack isn't stopped in time. For example, my daughter has a condition called a hemangioma. A single scratch could potentially kill her if it happens on the left side of her face because of the tremendous number of blood vessels in her benign tumor. She could bleed to death, and this scares me more than any of you know. The lesson here is not to provoke, taunt, or hit any animal because it really could end your life. Pit bulls are not the only dangerous animals out there people.

Not to mention the fact that proper grammar and punctuation, as well as correct spelling, make posts easier to read. I'm not a proofreader, nor am I a teacher, but it doesn't take extra schooling or even training to know how to use grammar and punctuation properly. Unless of course you weren't schooled to begin with. Great job Mixie. :) I too feel the way you do about it. It's not a difficult thing to make sure your posts portray you in a positive light.
