Dude, these are some sexy choices. What are you doing for dinner later?
Also, I'm curious how you feel about your logic here being applied to the state referendum in California regarding gay marriage. The referendum barring gay marriage passed in a pure democratic vote, yet was overturned against the will of the majority.
I personally couldn't care less if gays want to serve openly in the miltary, whatever the hell "serving openly" means, but I don't think the idea many people subscribe to, that the military is not the proper battleground for social issues, is too difficult to understand... is it?
I don't recall the tea party being against workers' right to organize. I must have missed that memo.
My reference to "the left" was an oversight on my part here... just a reflex. I missed that one.... good call.
I guess it's an issue of degree. In my experience, I've seen people try to numb migraines with copious amounts of Fiorinal with codeine, to no avail, yet I've see migraines that were once seen as out of hand dealt with handily by newer medications like Maxalt, Zomig, and Amerge.
Perhaps the people I know had lesser migraines that the people in your life. My people have never gone to the ER for a shot of Demerol, fortunately.
Perhaps she was just suffering from a migraine.
Also, if an economics degree is all you need to understand the economy, how do you explain Krugmann?
That may be true, but I'm sure there'd be the other 95% of the population he'd prefer over Flynt.
Do we need those bull-in-a-china-shop people from time to time? Some say yes, some say no. I prefer a more incremental approach, but there are a few instances where abrupt and severe challenges have been needed in society. I just can't figure out what societal need Flynt represents, if any. I think he's happy rocking the moral boat under the guise of free speech. It's not really a loophole, but it's definitely not driven by a quest for pure free speech. He knows what he's doing.
I don't know all of the examples of Flynt's actions on things like this, but I've heard of stuff like this before. Don't get me wrong... I fully agree with his right to free speech. I merely tried to point out his effect on society and his "moral irresponsibility" as some see it. We're allowed to spank our kids here in Missouri, but that doesn't mean you spank them all the time just because you're allowed to. Flynt is the ultimate connundrum to me: a sort of necessary pariah. He's both important and offensive... not worthy of respect necessarily because there is nothing artful about what he does. It's like punk rock. It's all the attitude and not the craft.
