The best ideas are the ones that are so damn simple--Twitter, bottled water and other stuff that seems ridiculously too easy. I agree, that most people think their ideas are the best thing since sliced bread--it's all about how they catch on!
Romil, I'm not sure opportunities shrink, but I do agree your risks increase. As people grow they have more to lose, they often become over leveraged and think they know everything
Just look at the hedge funds right now.
Creating a company with entrepreneurial culture means making every single person in the company feel like they have a role in improving the bottom line. Every single person needs to be innovating to improve their job processes--that type of sentiment is contagious and the execs need to be completely open minded.
I think there is huge opportunity for people to utilize April Fool's Day for fun marketing ploys... stuff way outside the box that could get people talking..... just don't take it too far like those guys in Boston who got jailed for their viral campaign for that cartoon...
Jason, I had the pleasure of visiting Gary at Wine Library and hanging out in his office at his tweetup and have seen him in person at the Web2 expo in NYC. Both times I was impressed with Gary's ability to connect with people on such a personable level, yet give advice that people truly wanted to listen to. He's got the charisma to go far... it'll be interesting to see how he combines his internet persona with mainstream tv if he ever does.
