You literally couldn't pay me to take a Delta flight. Everything about Delta seems to be designed to maximize passenger misery: terrible customer service, outdated equipment, uncomfortable accommodations, poor pricing, and a strangle-hold on all the good routes. Plus their control over that miserable Atlanta hub means they have a near-monopoly on travel into and out of the southeast.

I don't know the details of Branson's decision making process, but I do happen to know quite a lot about the economic development efforts in Florida and specifically about one of the sites Branson considered, and the processes that were considered and rejected for making that site more attractive to his company. It was a pretty popular idea with "the people" but the politicos had other ideas (which have subsequently failed).

So yeah, I do know a lot about it, and it is considered a given that the financial incentives provided in New Mexico played a major role in the decision.

So that Branson wouldn't build it at his second-choice site in Florida, where the state and local governments were too shortsighted to make themselves attractive to his business.
