This is ridiculous. This is no different from any other house. Have we just scrapped the cabin show altogether? It resembles a nice mobile home.
Please.. consider this constructive: I think the DIY network does wonderful work. I think y'all can make this place beautiful, and I recognize that the concept of voting has been retained. However -- I have to say how incredibly disappointed I am with the shift. Outside of the voting, what's to set this apart from any of the other umpteen remodeling shows already in circulation? You've completely abandoned the Blog CABIN roots, and in doing so, you've lost the essence of the back-to-the-land pioneer spirit that this show had so uniquely (and apparently inadvertently) tapped into with the viewers. You highlight viewer's choice, yet not a single blogger that I am aware of even floated the notion of a remodel. That's not a coincidence.
Beyond that, upstate New York is just another east coast site -- the furthest yet from the majority of the viewers.
Also, it should be noted that the divvying up the responsibilities among the "popular hosts" stinks of apathy on the network's part. You already used different hosts throughout the series. Changing hosts 3 times in as many seasons could be explained away with a little good will, but simply passing it around feels more like an unwanted step-child.
I'm sorry, but I just think it would have been better to create an entirely different show -- this one just can't hold my interest. Very disappointing.
Fantastic!! I'm really looking forward to participating as this will be my first full season to watch in "real time." I only caught on to this program towards the end of last season and I'm hooked. I'm pretty sure I've seen nearly all the old episodes in anticipation of 2010. Really glad to hear about the change-ups, too. Hopefully no subdivisions? I'm sure it will be great with lots of projects.
Arkansas is geographically centered in the continuous 48 states -- making it more likely to be within easy traveling distance for the most sweepstakes contestants. What good is owning a getaway if you can't get away to it?
I like the idea of multiple cabins. I would recommend a great deal of separation between them to ensure solitude.
Please consider Arkansas! The ozarks were home to many of the original log cabins we are trying to emulate in our getaways today. It has everything: views, running water, rural lifestyle, and a mild climate that still experiences all 4 seasons (beautiful foliage!). It's affordable, too! And it's not overcrowded. I just think that it is authentic -- not some gated, developed, mock wilderness designed to fool you into feeling like you've gotten away. You won't be disappointed.
Definately the Ozarks! I love Northwest Arkansas.
