Nicely put EJL, though I'm actually fond of that "fallow" period in the mid-70s that everyone hates, the Captain is perhaps the definition of an acquired taste. Thankfully enough artists acquired it to have his influence felt far and wide...R.I.P.

Not sure how long this will be up, but wanted to take this moment to thank all of you who listened to my show here on KCRW. It was a pleasure to play music for you! You can keep track of what's going with me at my blog: http://www.meltingpotblog.com

No worries, I don't put the times there, just the full list. You can check the times via the KCRW tracklist feature with this link:

I'm thinking the track you were talking about was the song by Air "Le Soleil Est Pres De Moi" from an early record Premieres Symptomes, basically a collection of early singles.

See if this is it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHbiaWWcVSg

Thanks for listening!

I'm really hoping that PE will get together with someone like Molotov to re-record it, I was surprised in listening to it after all these years at how (unfortunately) timeless the song remains.

Also I am giving up this shift, looks like Chuck P will be stepping in next week. I wrote all about it on my facebook page:

As soon as I know for sure, I'll likely post something here and there.

Thanks for listening,

Michael

It's from a collection of mostly slow burning psych tracks from all over the world called Forge Your Own Chains, put out by Stones Throw / Now Again records. The artist was Shin Jung Hyun & the Men out of Korea and their song "Twilight". Lots of great songs on the comp and truly useful and cool liner notes too.

Understandable, it's a very old habit that I've had little success breaking. My relationship with the iInstrumental music as a "bed" has always been more utilitarian, and so often I don't think to mention what it is. Duly noted and thanks for listening!
