I agree with his stance on the intertwining of religion and government. Everytime I read what this fu*cktard is up to I say "Thank God we did not elect that dou*chebag!"

There are far more important issues to deal with in the state that this pursuit of discriminatory policies. But, as long as the legislature keeps this circus going, and people are willing to stop and watch, then the issues that may truly make the state's citizens lives better go unworked. I doubt that making a specific groups life worse really benefits anyone on a day to day basis. But, hey, Circus Maximus worked for the Romans. Keep the masses entertained and they won't remember they are unemployed, or the state is losing its industrial base, or SAT scores are declining, or...

The majority of the comments on this article make me glad, as a straight male, that I have left this state. Cheering as the legislature introduces laws to legalize, and even mandate, discrimination is about as low as you can get. As your economy tanks, as your children remain uneducated, and as your infrastructure decays, at least you can hold up your beer can, and, with a toothless grin, shout "We done drove out them qu.eers."

Unfortunately, FEMA had told the city, prior to Mr. Corbett taking office, that they were going to give Cedar Rapids the $36 million for Sinclair and the hydroelectric plant.. Plans were based on that. It was over a year later that FEMA backed away from that promise of support.

I am sure that the state and independent auditors will have no problem with the fact that so much money was kept in such a highly secure building. Don't the city employees have the authority to deposit money? Good thing they do not need the money to stay in business.

I agree that after 2 years, either make a business plan that is realistic and grow or move on. I am not sure the government needs to hand out money to specific businesses. But, if you are looking for the downtown to be like the 50's, your simplistic rational doesn't take into account changes in societal habits, like planned neighborhoods that include small shopping areas, cheaper land outside of town, etc.

Do we have to go over the same issues again and again? This is the most pressing issue? Move on, you freaking time wasters. You give real public servants a bad name.

I think most, if not all, of the legislators are democratic. Some are Democrats, and some are Republicans. It's funny that journalists forget the fact that words actually have meanings.

Iowa has had a proud history of leading the nation, with the first institutions to allow minorities and women in colleges and universities. Now we have single issue simpletons saying they speak for all Iowans. You do not and you should not.

Really? You could have knocked it down instead of using those resources. Other people loose their homes and businesses everyday by financial distress, the cost of long term illnesses, starting a new business which fails, and other calamities. They do not receive hand-outs from the government or volunteers. Once Iowans were proud about how they handled this disaster, now we have settled into being whiny victims.
