According to the TV news you'd be right. An eyewitness stated that the jeep was speeding at a high velosity before he hit the Subaru head on and flipped. I can only speculate as to why the driver was speeding at this point but it wasn't worth it, it just was not worth it!

My thoughts exactly. Heck we have a neighbor who assaulted the police, resisted arrest and beat the crap out of his wife all on one night a year ago now. It was July of 2011. He made bail and was out in a week. They STILL haven't prosecuted his case!! Thank you King County!

That's the problem. Within a few feet of the shore it's nice and shallow and gentle. I agree seems totally rediculous to have a life jacket law. People are getting in there and then floating quite a distance not knowing what the conditions are down the river. Thats how they're getting into trouble. The 19 yr old was in the shallows with his family in another area of the river (not Flaming Geyser) and decided to go into the deeper water and got swept away and overpowered by the current.

First off 2.7 pounds at birth generally equates to about 27 weeks gestation or near 7 months along, give or take. I know I didn't have names picked out at that point. Sure we were bouncing choice back and forth but none of them were good enough. For my first born it wasn't even until his birth that his name was chosen and it hadn't even been anything that we had considered, he just "looked" like what we named him.
Millions of women travel while in their third trimester, it could have easily been due to work requirements, a job that she now doesn't have due to her daughter's health problems. We don't know.

Just go down to Flaming Geyser Park on a nice day and see how many people choose to play Russian Roulette with the river instead of being safe. They go out and buy the cheapest inflatable object they can find and go out with no vests with children of all ages. Then wonder why you see them on the news?

Funny, but isn't that why there are codes in place that requires only so many children per adult and when it is younger children like this the number of adult to children ratio is higher? Let me guess it was lunch time so the staff was all on a lunch break and the boss is to cheap to actually obey the law and ensure proper staff overlap to keep full coverage at ALL times! Why on earth was that gate not child proof or have a set up that the parents enter from a seperate area from the children's play area so that the staff KNOWS that the gate is always secure to prevent this kind of problem? Hard to believe that they passed all of their inspections with this kind of accident occuring.
Poor little sweetheart does not deserve the agony she and her parents are going through due to some idiot being "distracted". If your job is childcare then pay attention and have enough staff onhand to ensure that this cannot happen!

That was along my thoughts. I realize that the genetic stock avaliable is very rare, however inbreeding or breeding with severe genetic defect is not the answer either. I wonder if the scientists have decided that minor defects are acceptible risks in the interim in the hopes that in the near future we'll be able to screen out the defects through DNA manipulation?

This is a surprise for anyone in Tacoma? 4th of July had a group of 30 drunk people outside a family member's house shooting off big illegal fireworks. Granted, all fireworks are illegal in Tacoma, but I'm not talking sparklers and ground flowers I'm talking the big stuff and they were point it at houses when they were lighting it off instead of straight up in the sky.
Short version is the cops got called and the ONLY thing the police did was drive by. No contact was made, the fireworks were not confiscated, they were not told to move on (none of them lived on that street). They caused quite a bit of damage that night as well as terrifying the kids in the home.
Sadly the Tacoma cops are significantly outnumbered. Many times they'll simply do a "show and run" hoping thats enough to prevent worse behavior. They know if they get out of thier car and confront it will simply get out of hand and they'll likely get killed and the thugs know it too!

KOMO why not type up what the mother, or was it the mayor, I forget exactly which of the two stated it at the end of the story on the 4 pm news cast about how this is all about how the reason Saleem was arrested had nothing to do with his abusive behavior and everything to do with him being an immigrant and a muslim?
"IF" this was all about a father protecting his daughter as a good father would then why on earth would nationality be brought into it at all? To make it simple, it wouldn't! Stop playing the race card already!!
