" I consider myself to be christian but I don't follow any faith."
Sadly, then some other Christians in America don't consider you to be a Christian. Plenty of prominent people who proclaim themselves to be virulently faithful Christians deny your right to claim that YOU and I can be Christians unless we are Christians the way THEY say WE have to be Christians. Witness all the Christians who say Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, and other liberals are not Christians because they are pro-choice. Ipso facto, done deal. I don't remember Jesus signing over power of attorney, but, hey, I'm not a lawyer.
"not until Western Europeans civilized the modern world ..."__"Civilized the modern world?" And what, exactly, did that civilizing, as you call it, entail? Let's just take the Americas. Western Eurpeans "civilized" the native HUMAN population nearly out of existence. Another word for that is genocide. Sure, right now you're dismissing me as a revisionist, liberal, Indian-loving extremist, smug in your convictions that Jesus would have wanted this great land for Christians. Really. Does the Good Book, with its honorable rules, preach genocide? I must have missed that part. I don't remember, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, unless you really, really, really, want their land. Then get a gun and blow their heathen brains out." There are good and bad people of all faiths. But as long as people defend Christianity, or any other religion, by saying things like "Western Europeans civilized the modern world," pretending evil acts weren't committed along the way, don't expect thinking people to respect anything you have to say.
