You're right, this IS one of the most oppressive countries in the world. I've seen a performance artist take a $#!+ on stage, watch a girl wear a teenie skirt and a shirt that showed more skin than there was material walk into church, South Park said $#!+ over 100 times on an episode, and daily there are crimes committed by every age group in every city running rampant with no end in sight. I can buy pretty much anything I want at almost any time of day and I can even insult our public officials with impunity, but YES, this is a very oppressive country.
Although, that being said, I have to say that it is in NO WAY acceptable to make threatening remarks about anyone. And if someone makes a threatening remark about a Public Official? Well,......actually I was about to make a threatening remark about people that make threatening remarks.....Well, let's just say it is not acceptable to threaten. AND I didn't notice the remark about the movie about President's Bush's assassination, which I was unaware of and do not condone.
Great point, IowaIrish! The reason there wasn't moral outrage at comments concerning George W Bush, is because he wasn't a "real" president.
