That is of course IF they assimilate which we see more and more illegal and legal alike that don't and THAT changes the whole ball game.
First off, illegal immigrants should not be here. Period, end of story. If your first move when you come to a new country is to ignore and break their laws - guess what, you don't belong there in the first place. Second, if you come here legally and expect your ethnic culture or home country's societal norms to be accepted when they break our laws or violate our constitution (buzzer sound) WRONG AGAIN.
The fear is not "losing a place on the team," it is that the team will be wiped out due to the fact that there is no common ground with which we stand on. Our ancestors came and assimilated to a new life with new rules and new societal norms, something unlike any of them have ever know. THAT is what has kept this country going NOT the ones that come and continue to lead their same lives as if they are still back in their original country.

No, you freakin' Jackazz! He pretty much answers what the problem is. The problem is WHY would they work they azz off for money that is LESS then standing on the corner selling crack? Also, WHY should anyone GIVE them alternatives - for some reason they can find them for themselves? They can't straighten out their lives unless the government does something? And the GOVERNMENT sees no problem with a welfare state! GRRRRR!!!

Outside of that, you have our military that are public workers also AND HAVE ALWAYS done more with less. I can speak to that because I was in the military and saw many families go on food stamps because of how little pay they get. So, while some of your article does have merit, and people have mentioned earlier, you can't lump ALL public workers together. Not to mention that Public worker (in 2007) made up about 8% of the whole work force. Now those number are changing but I think public worker are still less then 15% (guesstimate) of the work force.

One of the key points you are missing that needs to be added in is the Unions. I know a couple people have mentioned it before but really the Unions are the ones that are fighting for the higher paychecks and they keep uping the value so they can take a bigger chunk. I work for our county governement and they introduced unions way before I got here. I am what is call a "fair-share" non-union employee. I don't get a choice whether I get to be in the union - I have to pay them money because they provide some of the "health" benefits. So I pay my "fair share" to the unions for that but I don't pay enough to be considered a union member. They still get my money and I don't get a choice. All of the upper echilon in the departments (meaning managers and above) are NOT part of a union. It is all the lower level people that continually use the unions to keep their lazy good for nothing butts in their jobs they some just refuse to do.
