Thanks a lot Sanchit for clarifying this. This was an interesting piece of information and I am sure not many people are aware of this fact!

This rumor started long before the 25 paisa coins were taken out of circulation. Though I posted it only now, I have faced this issue multiple times in the past. This issue is at least a year old and the authorities have not taken a note of it till now!

Hi Samina,
The scammers are using intelligent ways to dupe people. You took the right step by changing the id and password of your account. However, to ensure that everything is under control, I'll suggest you to visit your bank and talk to the bank manager directly about the whole incident. If necessary, they will change de-list your debit card and provide you a new one.
Don't worry, everything will be fine :)

Facts also state that Congress in its annual report said
"On the second day the work began after singing a patriotic song by Babu Ravindranath Tagore.... Afterwards the song composed for welcoming King George V and Queen Mary was sung."
Why would they lie in their report, when it was publicly known that Congress at that time was pro-British? They didn't had anything to hide.

Rabindra Nath Tagore himself cleared this point, as I mentioned in the article (read the letter I posted in the article). He might be lying under pressure (if that is what you want to believe), but if I were to choose between Rabindra Nath Tagore and an anonymous person who started this controversy, I will believe Tagore.

I feel these proofs are more than enough to establish the fact that Jan Gan Man was not sung in the praise of the King. The fact that it was composed at the time of arrival of the King George V, in no way proves that it was sung in his praise.

If you have some revealing and concrete facts that could prove otherwise, we'll love to hear them. Till then we'll continue to believe that Jan Gan Man is our pride.

I agree the proofs may not be conclusive, but when it comes to history can you really provide conclusive proofs? You can only analyse the facts and form a logical conclusion, which is what I did.
But I'll be happy to know if you have some concrete proofs which could establish that our national anthem was written for the British.

It is ok to believe that our country is the best. But citing wrong information to prove ourselves correct is not at all ok. Imagine someone debating this with a foreigner only to find that this is a rumor. How embarrassing that would be !!

If we need false information to feel proud of our nation, we are actually insulting it !!
