Animal Control told the Cairns "there was nothing they could do."

According to Pierce County code 6.02.030 PCAC has the authority "to pursue animals running at large" especially those that may be at risk of public safety. When animals are 'dumped' like this, we all know the "owners" are not going to come forward to claim them. This senerio unfortunately happens just about everyday somewhere in our state. In Pierce County it's only a misdemeanor for animal abandonment like this.
And, when an animal is CRITICALLY ill as one of these horses was, and it was reported to Animal Control- it is Animal Control's responsibility to provide the animal immediate veterinary treatment. This appears to me to be a typical case of a County employee that didn't want to get off their ass and do their job.

I think someone would know if their five horses were missing. These horses had been sited two weeks before they were brought in. The Sheriff's office had been notified. One of the horses was a body score of a 1. That means skin over bone. That horse died on Tuesday, three days after the five of them were rescued. Watch the video again- it shows a photo of the horse that died.

The TRUTH that was edited here is- Pierce County Animal Control (PCAC)refused to help or do anything to help these horses or the caring citizens that took them in. They told the Cairns to call the Brand Inspector who in turn told them they would take them directly to the feed lot at the Enumclaw auction barn (SLAUGHTER). PCAC has dropped the ball again- and most likely could have prevented the mares death if she had been treated by vet immediately after she was brought in. Shame on Animal Control!
