I'd like Omar to be asked if he was pressured by ownership to draft Ike Davis, and if not...what sort of drugs influenced his decision?

How many seasons has John Maine pitched 200 innings? The answer is never. He's pitched 190 innings exactly once in his career, and his season innings tallies then drop in increments of 50 from there. Oh, did he have injury problems? Yeah well, so did Pedro. They're both healthy now, and you can't tell me Maine is more durable than Pedro because he's simply not. He's not proven even once that he can throw 200 innings in a season.

What I saw in the WBC is a guy who knows how to pitch, has desire, a winning pedigree and accompanying demeanor with stuff good enough to win double digit games for this Mets team. It's not Pedro vs. Maine in my hypothetical scenario anyway. It's Maine vs. Pedro + what we can flip Maine into.....

Assuming we could trade Maine for Brandon Wood and Hank Conger, you don't think Baltimore would do Wieters for Wood, Conger, Niese, and Kunz? Conger is a top Catching prospect, and Wood essentially replaces his bat at Shortstop(a position of need for them) while receiving two talented pitching prospects in Niese and Kunz as well. That package doesn't even get you in the door on Wieters? Come on...be rational. That's 4 for 1 for a guy who's never stepped foot on a Major League field....

I don't believe Pedro is the same pitcher we saw last year. Similar, no doubt, but not the same. He won't be the Pedro of old, but from what I saw in the WBC there's no doubt in my mind he can provide essentially the same production we'd receive from Maine. Except with Pedro, we'd get the talent return we received from Maine. If there was a way the Mets could flip Maine into Matt Wieters....are you serious? I'd a trillion times over rather have Pedro and Wieters than Maine...and that's a colossal understatement. The report on Wieters is that he's basically Joe Mauer with 30 home run pop...yeah, he should definitely be a Met.

John Maine...He's a five inning pitcher basically who usually gives up about 2 or 3 runs per game...Pedro can do that exact same thing for us. John Maine is probably a guy other teams would be interested in. Why not shop Maine, and sign Pedro? Brandon Wood is a guy who the Angels don't seem to want to let play at the Major League level, ex-uber prospect, and seems ready to contribute, and the Angels have excess at the Catcher's position. In light of the Nick Adenhart tragedy, why not offer Maine for Wood and Hank Conger? Do they want O'Day back? Throw him in there anyway.

Wood can play anywhere, I know that's the first thing many of you were going to say. Second, Left, First...and of course Short and Third. ....eh, maybe you're right....maybe we don't need him, but...Maybe if we packaged Wood and Conger with Niese and Kunz we could get Matt Wieters from Baltimore? Imagine that? Who here wouldn't do that? Baltimore? I dunno...That's 4 for 1, and a talented 4 at that....

Oh yeah, we should just discount the first seven games, right? It's not like they were trying to get off to a fast start or anything. They really didn't want to win the inaugural game at Citifield in front of everyone. If they wanted to, they surely would have. I mean, it's not like we've been thoroughly trained in the importance of each and every game. Who cares right? Hey, cool breeze, wake up. Once again management FAILED in the off-season, and ONCE AGAIN THINGS AREN'T AS PROMISING AS THEY SHOULD BE. You're telling me if the Mets signed Manny things wouldn't be a whole lot better right now? Yeah, I know....go open a concession at Citifield, and sell your nonsense there. Seems like people will buy anything if you tell them to, right? Why sign Manny if you don't have to shell out money for the necessities if you can still get people to buy what ever you want them to?

If the Mets had signed Manny Ramirez....everything would have been gravy. Tim Robbins is awesome. I loved that interview; lol, when asked of what he thought of the off-season he just kind of rolled his eyes, and of course was being courteous and mentioned the upgrade to the pen, but he was totally fuming over the Mets not having signed Manny. He said "yeah, I appreciate the upgrade to the bullpen, but...I wanna start winning games 10-2 already."...or something very similar, if that wasn't verbatim. It was clearly a tongue in cheek stab at the Mets not having signed THE RIGHT GUY TO FIX THIS HORSE EXCREMENT SITUATION WE'VE FOUND OURSELVES IN!!!!! IT WAS A ONCE IN A LIFE TIME OPPORTUNITY, AND THE METS BLEW IT!! I WISH OMAR WAS HEAVED ON THE FIELD ALONG WITH FRED WILPON ON HIS PRECIOUS STADIUM GRASS AMID A MAN-MADE HAIL STORM OF ALL HIS NEW FANCY CONCESSIONS!! AND SPIT!! LIKE I GIVE A FLYING YOU KNOW WHAT ABOUT A FRIGON CHEESEBURGER!!! THEY NEEDED TO SIGN MANNY RAMIREZ, AND THEY DIDN'T. HORSE SPIT!!!!! FRIGON, HORSE SPIT!!!!

TRADE JOHN MAINE FOR SALTAMACCIA AND SIGN PEDRO!!!

You don't think making everyone equals, and forcing them to depend on and root for one another when they're not in the game builds chemistry?

lol, that's not even funny....

I'd like to see a simple rotation implemented. Everyone gets equal playing time from the get go. Set it off with Murphy in Left, Church in Right, and game 2, throw Sheffield in Left, Church in Right, Game 3, Murphy in Left, Sheffield in Right. Game 4 back to Murphy in Left, Church in Right. With Tatis starting 1 game a week in a Corner Outfield, but using the same rotation. First week Murphy sits, second week Sheffield sits, third week Church sits. Besides, Tatis is destined for a ton of at-bats at Second Base! ; )

If one or two guys emerge as must plays, or one guy is deserving of less playing time, then so be it. Do what needs to be done, but until/if it shakes out, I'd like to see a simple revolving door to prevent any mystery, question, or story. If they were your 3 sons how would you handle it? Equal playing time, right?
