I've been reading many comments but I'm still quite confused :P I apologize if my question is of a dumb nature but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.

I have a unlocked 2.2 Iphone 3g with 02.28.00 firmware, so I'm hesitant to doing something wrong and destroy my unlock :) My question is (and hopefully devteam will answer this in future updates on how to update your Iphone) should I update m to 3.0 firmware through Itunes, then jailbreak and then download ultrasn0w? or should I be using a costom firmware which will probably be downloadable later on, on torrent sites etc. and then JB and ultrasn0w my phone?

I can still connect my iphone to itunes without it upgrading, right? Since this news I haven't connected the phone to itunes in fear of that it will automatically upgrade to 2.2.1. My Iphone had v.2.2 in it when i bought it so this is the first upgrade I've experienced so I don't want to fuck up.

So does it automatically upgrade ? if so, how do I turn the automatically upgrading option off?
