I never expected Taylor to really get any nominations in this years awards, because as mentioned, she was in that in-between stage between records. Given the success of Speak Now already though, I will not be surprised to see her name listed next among the nominees.
That being said, I'm pretty pleased with all the others. For the most part, I'd say it was a good selection of people and songs. My only issue actually comes from the Gretchen Wilson and LeAnn Rimes nominations. I don't hate either of the them, but I've never once heard those songs on the radio, and I never got the impression that they were particularly successful. And if the voters are going for "left field" choices, I feel like there were better to choose from.
But I'm more excited about David Nail's song "Turning Home" getting a nomination more than anything else.

I completely agree. I never expected her to get any awards in this round anyway, simply because this year was wrapping up the end of Fearless, and becaue Speak Now was released after the end date (although given its success already, I will not be surprised if it garners some nominations for next year).

I love these guys, and I really hope they find a new record company soon! Their album was one of my favorites from last year, so I'm sure they have a wonderful career ahead of them.

Blake and Miranda really do have entertaining tweets.

Thank you for focusing on the actual feat accomplished here! This is a very big deal, especially given that Taylor is a young female who writes her own music.

I also agree with this. Pop music is changing just as much as country, and that's why people like Taylor and Carrie and others become so popular. They fill in the gaps. Even if you can't directly pin them down to one solid genre, they still make excellent music that bridges the divide.

Yes, but it's the original pop-sounding songs that are her most popular, such as "Before He Cheats" and "Last Name" and "Undo It" that I hear more often on pop radio than on country.
Also, your caps-lock is unnecessary and detracts from your point.

I completely agree. I can't even add to this because you've summed it all up so nicely. If you can't accept different sounds within the same genre, then deal with it on your own time.

I can't respect your opinion because it's too hard to read past the grammatical errors and lack of pronouns.
However, not all of Taylor's songs have been remixed. "Teardrops On My Guitar" and "Love Story" are the only songs with official pop remixes that were released to the radio, and truthfully, I've heard the original versions more than those anyway. As much as I like traditional country, and being able to differentiate country from pop, I also like that Taylor makes music that appeals to both sides.
Plus, "Mine" is a nice song.

Why post about someone who isn't even mentioned in this article?
