@Josh (and Michael),

Exactly!! Man, I was pacing after listening to that interview. Trying to decide to call in (no, he'd just ridicule any opposing view) or write a blog (but do I even spend energy on that?). What he did was deplorable...

You both captured much of my thoughts and feelings. There is much that Beck has done and will do that I consider great (hell, WST Frederick was born on March 13th, 2009). This is one of those times that highlighted Beck's being 'human' - this was a giant misstep.

He could simply dismiss this as a disagreement (albeit big) and then move on. But he takes it a step too far lumping everything together and ridiculing her and anyone that 'might' fit into the category. Then goes even further to prove his reason/point. I've seen/heard him do this before and can't stand it.

Very disapointed...and the exact reason I always say, "Principles will stand the test of time, but people will always fail you."

Great piece Mark!

We must continue to change the hearts and minds of the people and open their eyes to these snakes in the grass…

If we’re to take the country back…“Non-violent revolution must burn in the hearts of patriots across the country like a raging fire.”

Excellent article as always, Josh!

...when we understand (as the founders did) that rights came from our Creator (i.e. Unalienable Rights). Once we explore their writings and speeches as well as the historical figures that they studied, we begin to develop an understanding and appreciation of what they believed at their core. One such example is that the government could not force an individual to provide for another individuals needs. Providing for another’s needs is an example of Unalienable Duties, however this is outside the realm of government intervention. An individual does not have the right to Healthcare at another individuals expense, period. An individual does have the right to not have a third party interfere with someone providing healthcare to the individual. One might ask how such statements can be made or that we already provide for the welfare of the downtrodden. They would probably be the first to call someone a monster who says that the government has no place doing such things. However, I would wager that those “monsters” on average provide more assistance to the downtrodden and hurting.

Great commentary, Mark! I believe this is the issue that must ultimately be decided.

Fight ... for your right — to Tea Party
Originally published July 19, 2009 in the Frederick News Post

Over the past couple of weeks, a great deal has been said about the so-called Tea Partiers. Much of it has been negative to say the least. It was interesting to me that many of the disparaging remarks have been generalizations and incorrect speculation -- passed off as matters of fact -- of why they, them, those people participated in the July 4 Frederick Take Back America rally.

While I cannot speak for everyone in attendance, I can attempt to share my motivations as a participant and organizer.

It is each generation's responsibility to preserve the freedoms that our founding fathers fought for and won for us. We inherited a system of government that was so unique it enabled a country to mature like no other and usher in more advances in 200-plus years than the previous 5,000.

Thank you - I meant every word and took the message to a local Frederick, MD radio show on WFMD for 2 hours yeaterday morning from 9-11am (www.wfmd.com). Hopefully , it will raise awareness and some people who wouldn't have become involved just might rethink their stance.

We need to keep reaching out and building bridges with other citizens. We're the ones who are going to make the difference!
