Yea, that's possibly Cross's funniest role, which makes it a bad example. That was a great show. I'd say he can bring laughs to many things, even that mildly funny sketch show his name was in the title of.
Hey, Robert Duvall can make any movie better, even The Godfather.

If I only judged movies by their cast, this one would have four stars, but it takes much more than a cast. It just doesn't look funny.

I don't know what you mean by this movie doing anything new. As the poster mentioned, it's supposed to be like a "Life of Brian" for this generation. There's also a Mel Brooks movie or two that had characters speaking "modern slang" in a biblical setting ("It's good to be the king"...."We have mighty joint!").
I want this film to be funny, but it doesn't look like it will compare to films before it like "Life Of Brian" and "History of the World", which are classics.
So hop aboard the "this sucks" bandwagon, at least out of disappointment. Don't be shy, there's plenty of room.

Absolutely. Not only was I not aware of the recent invasion of Pan Flute Bands(maybe more of a west coast thing?) , but they wasted 2 episodes on that shit.

Oh man that episode was even better than this one. Having Mickey Mouse do that laugh every sentence like it was some nervous tick of a psychopath. "YOU DON'T, FUCKING, TALK TO ME LIKE THAT! haha"
