Our Tough Love Is Israel’s Only Hope (Continued)
What will become of Israel? Will the present members of the Israeli Government save the state? No, their only goal is to remain in power by paying obeisance to the desires of their coalition partners.
Who can prevent Israel from becoming completely isolated and from eventually falling before properly trained and equipped Arab armies? Who can move the Israeli electorate to seek peace? We American Jews and our President can. We must start to dramatically reduce our contributions to Israel, and President Obama must start to reduce aid to Israel and must start to impose trade restrictions. If not -- God is just, and Israel is lost.

Our Tough Love Is Israel’s Only Hope
We had such high hopes, and our expectations have fallen so low.
The Israeli declaration of independence expressed the finest of human sentiments, but Israel has steadfastly refused to enact a constitution. At least there has been a High Court of Justice, but recently Barak (the Israeli Defense Minister) chose to ignore its verdicts. Rabbi Alkali projected Jews and Arabs living together and prospering together, yet today the majority of Israeli Jews hate, fear and discriminate against Israeli Arabs. In Devarim (Deuteronomy) we are commanded to treat the strangers among us as ourselves, instead we steal their land. Even the Arab states are moving toward more secure civil rights and toward democracy, while the Orthodox settlers with great and growing political strength seek to sensor our universities' scholars, and proclaim that, since they have Halachah (the Orthodox religious law), they have no use for democracy.
