I am a 21 year Navy retiree, a Vietnam era vet, a master chief petty officer and a former professional photographer. This photo was taken by a former Navy photographer who is deservedly very proud of her picture and bewildered by the negative comments about it. It's a photo I wish I had conceived and taken myself. I find nothing offensive or disrespectful in the picture. I think it is very respectful and expressive about what the American military and naval services stand for. If I had a copy of the photograph, I'd be happy to give it a place of honor in my office.

All of this is moot because Obama and the Democrats have spent our country into bankruptcy. We don't have the money to follow any of these suggestions no matter how well reasoned. While India and China have thriving economies and are leaping ahead us in technological gains, we are well on the way to becoming a Third World country. Welcome to Greece!

15 years ago @ Big Government - Your reference to the new media is right on point, Kevin. It was not the MSM who broke the Monica Lewinski/Bill Clinton scandal. It was Matt Drudge and the Drudge Report. The MSM had to be dragged into it kicking and screaming and all of those harpies and newshawks, who tried to pillory Justice Clarence Thomas, never uttered a word of criticism about Clinton's behavior. They still won't to this very day.

15 years ago @ Big Government - Weiner' is just another sleazy Democrat politician. If Huma leaves him, she gives up her political base and income. I expect she learned this from her mentor, Hillary Clinton. Hillary stuck with Bill through all of the humiliations he put her through and she became a U.S. senator and then secretary of state. Not too bad for the victim of an unfaithful husband. The difference of course is Bill eventually became president while Weiner is just a U.S. representative and very likely at the end of his political career.
