They don't let us downgrade our firmwares. The 3G can downgrade freely but the 3GS and higher can only downgrade if you've saved your SHSH files, and you redirect your iTunes through a separate server.

If a jailbreak is worth billions of dollars and the deaths of thousands of sea creatures, as well as almost a dozen people, maybe you need to rethink life.

The bottom line is they can do what they want because they owe you nothing. 'You' as in all of us. Sure, it'd be nice to know when to expect a jailbreak, but they have their reasons and they don't even need to explain themselves.
