My favorite episodes of this show have always been the ones that deal with the joys, pains, and irritations of relationships, and for that Amending Fences was the best showpiece by a long shot. I've even come to think of it as the "spiritual" 100th episode just because it fits so well, returning to where the show began and resonating so much with MLP's overarching themes.

That said, I'm astonished that The Cutie Map is only just barely cracking the top 10 at the moment. I thought it had a lot more going for it than many episodes above it (Tanks for the Memories, Make New Friends But Keep Discord, Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, Slice of Life) ever did, but I guess that's just me.

That was actually my reaction to both episodes. I don't think he works as a "good" guy or even a sort-of-good guy.

An older definition of the word "card" (one that pretty much no one uses anymore) is "an eccentrically amusing person": http://www.thefreedictionary.com/card (#7). Only Rarity, with her idiosyncratic vocabulary, could have pulled it off.

The best thing about this episode is not the Back to the Future or Bob Ross references.

It is the fact that Rarity used the word “card,” in 2015, on a children’s program. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Yup, for all of 2 seconds during the "Perfect Stallion" song. It happens so fast it's incredibly easy to miss.

Yes, but I was referring specifically to the book on the lectern and what looks quite a lot like a clerical collar on the pony officiating.

I meant it mostly as a joke, anyway.

True, the subject matter is unmistakable, yet I get the impression that somehow it passes as "just another holiday song." Not sure why, but there it is. It's sort of like the nativity scenes you can still see in public places. It's obviously Christian, but no one really makes anything of it.
