thanks for the reply. my OS X is the latest version and the USB cable is fine. i use it on my 4S all the time. could it be a hardware issue?

looking for some help on a friend's iPhone 4 that's stuck on the apple boot logo that keeps flashing on & off. have succeeded in putting it on both recovery & pwned DFU modes but when the iTunes restore starts, an error pops up after a minute into the restore process. i get errors 2001 & 2006 alternatively while doing the restore. any suggestion would be very welcome. thanks in advance guys.

even if you bought unlocked phones, the jailbreak might not get past the tethered stage with all the new security features apple is introducing with iOS 5. let's just all hope the Dev Team can outsmart them once again.
