We still don't know everything the Dharma Initiative was doing - nor what the Others who replaced them were doing. The D.I. may have been experimenting with polar bears living in that climate for all we know.

Now we just have to wait for Lost to dominate the lists again. There's about 120,000 people on each of the 5x01 and 5x02 torrents right now (about 240,000 total) - completely excluding those that have finished, haven't started, or are using one of the other 5x02 torrents that was uploaded.

Sounds like Britain followed the lead of the US. Back when the first Survivor aired, the shows over here reverted to "crappy competition shows", and is only barely recovering.
