Haven't they anything better to do with their time than to stir up ill feeling in this way?
Just appalling. Proper punishments need to be applied in animal cruelty cases, to at least make the scum who did this think twice.
The British Govt are sick to the back teeth this sectarian cesspit, full stop. Bottom line is that there are very few people with clean hands, in relation to the filthy business we euphemistically refer to as 'the troubles. We could keep raking up the past and have prosecutions and enquiries ad infinitum, but to what avail? No one is innocent, just some are more guilty than others.
So, all told, great publicity for SF in the run up to an election. If Gerry's detention was down to 'political policing', it's clear who the beneficiaries are!
Who stands to benefit from Gerry's arrest? Certainly not the British Government, who are fully supportive of the peace process and Sinn Fein's participation in it. The only people who may benefit are those who are against the peace process, in particular the dissident republicans. They, more than anyone else, are the ones trying to undermine SF. Interesting that this arrest comes in the wake of more allegations about Gerry from another 'former associate'.
Is this actually a protest against the Giro d'Italia?? It seems like just another of their silly parades, that shouldn't in any way detract from the race spectacle.
Above all, the Jean McConville affair epitomises the absolute misery the troubles brought to Northern Ireland. It is vital that we do not regress to anything like those days. The lunatic loyalists and deluded dissidents must not be allowed to disrupt the peace process and bring more misery to NI.
Mistake by the British Government?? What are you talking about? Do you actually understand the situation here? The British Government is the best friend that Sinn Fein has!
This will have no detrimental effect on the SF vote or Gerry Adams whatsoever, quite the reverse probably. People who suggest that Gerry's arrest (if that's what it is) is about political policing are talking nonsense. People who vote SF are very well aware of their past IRA associations, indeed many vote for them for that very reason. The Loyalist parties (DUP/UUP/TUV) and dissident republicans may want to take us backwards, and are constantly trying to undermine SF, but they are very much part of the political process, now and going forward!
If SF unravels, then who(peacefully) fills that void in NI? They may only get protest votes, in the Republic, from those who are p****d off with the political elite, but they have strong support here.
I have no liking for SF but clearly a significant number of people do, and their votes count just as much as mine.
