I used to love the Oscars, but then I took an arrow...

No, but seriously. I liked them until they started nominating movies I didn't even care to see. Then came the political crap.

Well, I didn't even know the Oscars were coming up this weekend.

Seems I won't be missing much.

Wait. I have known strong Christians who did vote for Obama (whom I disagreed with). They believed abortion was wrong, but they believed he was the right man for the job. Regardless, you cannot take someone's vote in a secular election on a whole host of issues and say they are not Christian based on that vote. This is one of those disputable matters that divides a church if Christians let it. In my church, and I can only speak for mine, no one ever addresses voting because the Bible never addresses it and it is largely irrelevant to living the Christian life. I have known Libertarian Christians who did not care about how people voted on abortion because they felt that sinners will do what they want regardless and that God will call them to account. We are called to live like Christ and that is it. We do not invite any politicians to speak because the pulpit is for glorifying God, not man.

But saying that "If you vote Democrat you are not a Christian" is wrong, divisive and sets a standard that God himself has never set simply because the Bible never addresses voting and how people vote. I will say that if something violates their conscience and they go against it, then that is wrong. But lumping every person who votes Democrat into the "pagan" camp makes it seem like you are setting how you vote as your standard of faith and not whether you love Jesus. GOP/Conservative/Republican does not equal Christian and many GOPers need to get that into their heads. The GOP is not a church or religious group and acting so is counterproductive.

Methinks "conservative" in this sense means in demeanor, attitude, dress and lifestyle. I think there are some connections, but not many

You are still thinking that you change people's hearts through politics. As Christians, our battle is against the spiritual realm that has deluded people. Political beliefs are fine, but no one is going to be saved by them.
