Actually... my #3 son and I did indeed go to the movies today! My two oldest sons are married and so the four of them and my two younger sons "had Christmas" with me last weekend. The married couples are with the girls' families today, and the youngest son is with his dad. The youngest has a disability so lots of things focus around him during the year. But today, it was just #3 son and me. We had the best day together! We'd not had a chance to go do something like that for a long time. And we said, "Thank you for working today!" to every employee that we could speak to at the movie theater.
People love each other and bond and celebrate in different ways. Peace to you this holiday season.

The concept of merging is foreign to most.
Signaling does not give you the right to run someone off the road.
Sometimes you can not change into the left lane when someone wants to join/enter the right lane from an entrance ramp due to cars and trucks already in that left lane.
Changing into the left lane when someone is joining/entering traffic from the right is a courtesy, but the responsibility to fit in (merge) lies with the driver joining/entering traffic.
The cars and trucks that are joining/entering traffic are instructed to "yield"... yet rarely do.

thunderhead, you are correct on several counts....
it does take a semi longer to stop...
but I drive quite a bit myself, in many different states, in all kinds of weather.... on good roads I'm usually at or 3 over the speed limit. I have semi trucks come up into my trunk and stay so close I can't see their license plate to report them.
And... when I leave a comfortable gap between myself and the car in front of me, quite often someone takes it as in invitation to squeeze in and apply their brakes!
I'm just saying that everyone should take into consideration that their habits could be annoying at best, and fatal at worst.
Everyone.
Problem is... no one thinks it's"them" that the rules apply to.
Sigh....

At the risk of getting "dinged" by all the big rig fans here... I believe any vehicle has a right to stop suddenly on a road... an no one has a right to follow closer than you can stop in case of a "situation".
I've been driving for more than a few decades... luckily I've never been in an accident, nor have I caused one. But I've been tailgated thousands and thousands of times by all kinds of vehicles, and have often wondered how it might turn out if something or someone would pop up out of the ditch in front of me and I would have to try to stop suddenly. (yes I understand this is not the case here)
Bottom line, drive like you might have to react to something that you didn't plan on.

How "green" is it to destroy one building and put up a new one.. with materials taken from who-knows-where? Seems like they could have put up motion sensors and shut off the water in the building that was already there.

Maybe they should figure out how to construct buildings using the packaging that never goes away.

wow... that's a lot of money to the Johnson County area... does the money spent on black and gold items stay in the Johnson County area, or go to some corporate office somewhere else? Does all that hotel money stay in the Johnson County area, or just the tax part of it? I'm sure people spend lots and lots of money (foolishly IMHO) but I don't think it has improved the quality of life for workers and students in the Johnson County area.

I'm speechless..
Guess you should be, too, if you are in the hospital for any reason.
