Doh, I figured it out. The new version of redsn0w, 0.9.9b5, can still reflash iPad basebands, no need to use an old redsn0w. Everything works for me now. Just run the jailbreak (first button in redsn0w) and check reflash iPad baseband; it expects the phone to be in DFU mode so that's fine.

I think I am one of the people who have an inconsistent baseband because of an attempt to upgrade to iOS 5.0 with a stock ipsw. I tried to reflash the iPad baseband using redsn0w 0.9.6rc16, but it crashes at the step “Fetching iPad baseband files (please be patient)”. Both Mac and Windows versions of redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 do this for me. Does this happen to anyone else, and do you have a solution?
