Um... actually no, Mormons believe all can achieve salvation in this existence or the next. Even if they dont believe in this one. Its unique in that it sees all are granted another chance at salvation in the next life when they have the full truth of existence before them, instead of them being dammed because they made a wrong decision in this life. And I accept your appology and offer my own, sometimes when I get to talking about something I can sound condecending, I'm sorry if i came across that way at any point.
No your not understanding, in the LDS Faith, baptism is a part of salvation. We do it for others that have passed on, but in what you term the afterlife they have a choice of accepting it or not. Its hard to explain the full amount of what goes on without giving a few pagefuls of information. But its basically we do it for those that can not, but it is their choice to accept or not, just as we believe its peoples choice whether to believe or not. Free Will is the most important aspect of the LDS Faith its one reason why myself and the ones I've known are conservative in principle. Its also a reason why I wont vote for Romney, self determination and free choice is paramount, charity and help comes from the community by a choice of those individuals, not mandated by taxes or a government.
Actually the way the Mormon religion works in this reguard, is we are baptized in the place of the deceased for them, but they have the choice of whether or not to accept that baptism. It is not forced upon them, overall Mormon faith believes in free will. Its hilarious when moronic people try to make fun of a religion by doing what they think the religion does and have no basis in reality. This is also the reason why geneology is so important to Mormons cause they wish to help others. Even if you dont believe in what we believe in you can see the reason why its considered important work, cause they are trying to bring those that dont have the ability to, to salvation if they wish to.
Its sad but true, the Grand Old Party is not the party of my Grandfather. Hopefully we patriots will be able to stop this leftist creep upon our republic.
I'm sorry that you've had bad buisness deals with Mormons in the past, but as one I like to say that lying, cheating, or misleading anyone is against our beliefs. Please don't take Romney as an example of Mormons as a whole. I personally agree with you and won't vote for him even if he's the only one. I don't like him, his lies, or his flip flops. If there was a way to bring Regan back I would in a second, we need a real conservative and lover of the Republic to get us forward. And we also arn't a cult, really don't understand why people keep saying that. I beleive in Jesus and that he's our only savior. If people are going to attack Romney do it cause of his policies and history, not cause of his religion. Not saying you did Cowboy, but many others on this forum have.
I honestly dont care how much this affects my rating, but as a Mormon I find it slightly offensive that others would attack my faith based upon some almost paranoid belief that were out to get people. I disagree with Romney's position on many things, in fact so much so that I would only vote for him if he was the only other choice to Obama. I think hes too moderate for what this country needs to get back on track, but to attack him based upon his faith? Its kind of funny cause some comments mention this as if we infested the United States. As a Roman Catholic convert to Mormonism, I have to say that I still have the utmost respect for my former beliefs, I think some things are wrong, but I understand that in following the tenants it raises the goodness inherent in all human beings. Jesus was our savior, is our savior, and will always be our savior. Attacking each other based upon religion is something for liberals and democrats, who claim to respect our religious beliefs, but use them to mock us in any underway they can.
If were going to disagree, disagree because his policies are wrong, which they are. I personally do not know which candidate would make the best choice currently, but I know that Romney feels more like a centralist that will not decrease the burden of government upon us.
I don't understand the problem, as a Dual Citizen currently living in Canada to finish my schooling, there are laws up here in every province that for all elections you require photo ID. No one complains about it up here, its a standard requirement, and like the states its free to those that dont have the money, all you have to have is Citizenship papers for immigrants, or a birth certificate/legal documentation proving who your parents are and its yours. There are none of the outrages, race cards, or idiotic complaints for poor people up here. Why is it considered so different down there. I thought the USA is suppose to be the pinacle of civilization currently, but Canada can do Voter ID, while the US can not? Logic, there is none here.
If Boehner doesnt lose his speakership after this, I'm really not sure what relevence the GOP has. This is ultimatly a betrayal of the principles conservatives believe in for some cheap political points which they wont get anyways cause Obama will just be "I forced them into a deal, see how i'm a great negotiator and defender of the American people!" Party of stupid indeed.
And these are the people I'm continually told in university by my professors to emulate. I'd rather shoot myself
Actually Mormons drink herbal tea's theres a slight difference. And it be preferable if you didn't bring religion into this, many Church of Latter Day Saints members disagree with Romney on many issues, such as personal charity over government handouts.
