One can only hope.  I tend to think that children should be taught the more practical aspects of life in HS and not things most will cease to use upon graduation.

Oh wow, you know I never quite looked at this possibly being a problem.  I guess I've always looked at it as even if you're going 50/50 the other person would cover expenses when needed.  This is why I advocate an all or nothing approach to money.  One account, set ground rules and be done with it.

I imagine that if you all were short on the mortgage he would help?  Or would he let it go into foreclosure?

Thanks :-) Im rather calm about how I feel towards my cousin, really just wondering what's going on in his head but it is what it is. Im just happy she is free to live her life. I can only imagine how my aunt feels about him though.

I hear you.  Im not sure how he could do this either but until I see him again it is what it is.  MY main concern was making sure she didnt go to jail for him and his nonsense.  Im not mad, just more disappointed but more than happy to help out.  

Ive always admired this aspect of your life.  Dont mind me, still battling house whore tendencies over here.  I think about it all the time.  Our first apartment as 900 sq ft and that was a 1BR.  It times called for it I could easily move back.  But for whatever reason Im at a point in my life where I want space and a back yardy uncle's home is 10,000 square feet, we even got married there and planned a large scale outdoor wedding for 150 people.  Im used to having a large home but Im able to downsize if we had to.

I just have NO tolerance for a 1200 sq ft townhouse that's narrow has hell, I'd rather be in a 1 BR apartment LOL  You'd have to see it to understand, it's just frustrating to move around in them.  After looking at rentals last month Ive grown to hate them.  Just give me a 1BR/studio and im good.  Less space but more open.
