7 - Learn to live with less. Cut the size of the Federal bureaucracy. Eliminate union jobs from the federal work force as it impedes merit based advancement in favor of seniority, and makes the firing of said employees next to near impossible. Set congressional compensation on a level with those they represent. And since in our perfect world there will be no more career politicians no more pensions for members of Congress.

Finally, that the Federal Government return to sec.8 /1-17 of the constitution and live exclusively by it’s enumerated powers and leave the States their sovereign rights and powers.

This should save a few trillion dollars.

3 - Amend the 22nd amendment to also include term limits for members of congress. Or add a new amendment to the constitution establishing term limits to one term for senators and two terms for representatives. Also it must include that that you can not go from one house to the other. Do your job and go home. Less room for corruption and the end of a political ruling class.

4 - Passing of the line item veto.

5 - The abolishment of lobbyists. No one thing breeds corruption more than this practice. Also make it a condition to hold a seat in either house that after your term you cannot join, work for, receive compensation from, or aid in any way a special interest lobbying firm or organization.

6 - End earmark spending.

Controlling spending in D.C. ok there’s a boondoggle. Here’s my idea.

1 - Repeal the 16th amendment. Replace it with the Fair Tax.

2 - Repeal the 17th amendment. Return the selection of the senators of the states to the state legislatures. All this process does now is increase revenue to the two political parties and neuters the sovereign states leaving them no representation in congress.

This is also one of the fundamental things wrong with our Republic. More and more, little by little the rights of the SOVERIGNE states has been eroded and assimilated into this behemoth we call the Federal government. Each State as prescribed in the constitution IS a sovereign entity, a country unto its self. The Federal government should and must be bound to, only to the duties enumerated in the constitution. Any thing else is a violation of the compact.

I’ve seen several posts here asking what do we do now that we’ve agreed we’re mad as hell. A fair number of responses have suggested keeping the letter and email pressure up on both politicians and the media. Bravo! I’m on the same page. I would like to throw out another suggestion for 9.12ers while we wait for responses to those letters. This is a true ‘from the ground up’ movement, so I’m making changes in my household and lifestyle to reflect more of the 9.12 philosophy. Not only will I voice my opinion in writing, but I will also say it with dollars spent whenever possible on American made goods in local shops and with my time volunteering and doing the right thing by my family, friends and neighbors. I believe in economy at home, in speech, and generosity of heart. If I can help my neighbor out and make a penny scream all in one day, then it’s a very good day. I’ll take the small victories while we work toward the larger goal. This is what I call being a cheap patriot, and I’m proud of it.
