Could not find any links to the comments about James Rainey Los Angeles Times article about Journalist Professionalism. could not refrain from writing to him directly with the following:
Are you Kidding? Journalistic Professionalism? Tell it to Dan Rather and the people at CBS who aired a letter against George Bush that blog fact-checkers easily recognized as fraudulent.
Mainstream media does not have a professional, ethical leg to stand on.
Dana's compelling historical account identifies two features critical to our protest success. These are Event Coordination via the Internet and Information Dissemination via the Internet. The case can be made that we would not have accomplished so much sans Internet. Fast forward to Congress's Cybersecurity Emergency Act. Who is tracking this? I couldn't find any updates on this disasterous bill that gives uprecedented authority to the President, or his representative Czar, to shutdown private internet access in the event of an emergency. I'm not a conspiracy theorist; I don't think the collapse of the Twin Towers was an inside job. But I do think that this administration has too much to lose. A desperate, cornered animal will not wait for inconvenient terrorists to create an emergency. It is too easy to unleash a homegrown computer worm and then declare a national emergency. Just think, Congress would not have any more annoying emails and any phone calls pouring into Congress would be of the "please help us Congress" type. This article just made me think about how far we have come and how far we have to go. We cannot underestimate this administration.
