There goes this site yet again, missing how Eastwood is not really Conservative. Gran Tourino is quite anti-conservative. His character is a product of Liberal America, and his children and his grandchildren are caught up in the greed of the post-Reagan America, he in effect disowns them because they no longer stand for Liberal America and pursue and mistaken idea of what it means to be American.
Well you have sunk lower than I thought, I certainly did not print this on any left wing blogs, nor will I. When you get your dream Mr. Swindle, when it becomes a world of every man for himself, one man and his gun against another's, whatever you do cry to the private sector to save you.
Unlike you I am openminded, the Free market should work both ways, sink or swim. I saw all you sink and cry like babies for help. I also am open minded enough to know that Global Warming is a threat. The people of Shishmaref can tell you how serious it is.
He actually was not patient. I was patient. Believe me his views caused me no end of fury but as long as he responded I decided to extend him the same grace. I also know Mr. Swindle does not work from an office or in any creative private sector job. He works at home, writing about theory, writing by reading other people's work. He could not seriously claim to be a journalist.
Protecting you from Food, Water and Air poisoning. Protecting you from crime. Protecting you from foreign enemies. Protecting you from abusive bosses and ensuring workplace safety, I am so sorry we care about helping you and trying to make the country as safe and as pleasant an environment as possible to live in. I would say the downgrading of our country comes from being consistently undermined by a group of people who are successful at failing.
I am sure you did "Oh! Har Har Har! The idea that the New Deal ever worked!" I am sure that someone in your family benefited from it. I certainly never laughed at you and tried to take it all seriously and I am deeply offended that you claim moral superiority when you insult me consistently. Believe me Mr. Swindle most people in this country hold people like you in contempt.
Because that is my job. How terrible of someone who is a CEO to call themselves that!
I also find it rich that people like me who did as we were told and stayed out of the economy and accepted that "we had made a lifestyle choice" when we joined the Federal Bureaucracy have become the fall guys for events we had nothing to do with. In the case of people like me because we were kept out, or in the case of people like Geithner because they thought that if they stayed out they would be helping and were told to stay out. Either way it is certainly not the Government or the Left's fault, and it is the fault of the right and its theorists, who were given a chance, failed enormously and now argue that the way forward is more of the same.
Oh and yes Mr. Swindle I do believe that someone who is against the ideas behind Social Security and Medicare is at best hard hearted, at worst a hypocrite. I also believe that people who believe in supply side anymore need to have their heads examined. We have tried it and it has failed and we should recognize that and try something different. We have been promised that lower taxes and keeping regulators out of the economy would provide prosperity. We enacted that program from 2001-2008, as a result we had the financial crisis.
Well I had better things to do with my time than debate with someone who concerns themself entirely in theory and never deals in the real world with real things, because that would necessarily mean an uncomfortable engagement with the way things are and how they have become. But the point is I was willing to debate with Mr. Swindle because I believe that Democracy ceases the moment we stop the discourse, for its sake I carried on.
