"This is probably a good lesson in why anything other self-restraint or self-censorship can never work."

Despite the typo - I assume this sentence means that relying on people to use there own judgement on matters of morality is foolhardy. I would agree - but Big Hollywood has decided to treat homosexuality as perfectly acceptable based on finger in the wind morality.

There are many behaviors that people feel they may have no control over. That has nothing to do in determining if those behaviors are acceptable.

Trying to be relevant to the younger generation is not the best way to be relevant. Speaking truthfully is always relevant and the younger generation will ultimately realize that - probably around the time they are no longer the younger generation.

I assume you won't entertain kiddy fiddling since it is too distasteful to use as an example. It may appear like we are condoning it by using it so casually.

He condones it by his casual acceptance of their self proclaimed identity as a valid option. Instead of sodomy, let's say the couple preferred kiddy fiddling. They had always known they were kiddy fiddlers from a very young age. It felt right for them yet they were forced to suppress this knowledge due to people's prejudice. If his article were casually talking about the similarities between conservatism and kiddy fiddling it would seem ridiculous (at least for now) and a ploy to create sympathy for kiddy fiddlers.

I believe the author has no moral issues with homosexuality.

Thank you. I can't believe I almost missed out on my present life.

I have all kinds of impulses. The less you feed them - the less prevalent they are. Right now, I want to ring the neck of the uverse repair man who said it should only take a half hour - something I choose not to act upon. That murderous rage I am presently feeling towards the hapless fellow does not define me.

Homosexuality is not a biological trait. There is no evidence of that. I would say there are people born with certain temperaments who are pushed in that direction due to cultural influences and internal inadequacies.

I suppose this is a losing battle at this website since BH seems to have embraced homosexuality but... Just because something feels natural does not make it right and true. There are all kinds of behaviors that one may be inclined towards which can cause you great harm. I lived as a gay man throughout my twenties and began to slowly remove myself from that life. I am now married with a two year old daughter. It is the best decision I ever made.
