Okay, so I need to Vent about an issue that I find very troubling. If any of you are graduates of the U. of Notre Dame you need to get your pen and pencils out and write directly to President Jenkins. Obama has been invited to give the commencement address at the May graduation this year. He is also slated to receive an Honorary Doctorate. This flies in the face of everything that the University has historically stood for. How can they invite a man to speak who believes in late term abortion, embryonic stem cell research and gay marriage. If you or a member of your family is involved in any way with Notre Dame, make your voices heard. This is a troubling issue.

Not exactly "volunteer" as the bill reads. Volunteering will be mandatory for all abled body young people and the program will become over time a mandatory part of the education in secondary schools. It will cost, according to the appropriation, $6 Billion. Where is the outrage! This will ultimately become the so-called civilian army that Obama let slip out during a July 4th speech in the mid-west last summer.
Exactly Bing The only thing Washington really understands is the fear of not being reelected. Did you notice how fast Chris Dodd went back to Conn. a few days ago to patch things up with his constituents. Loss of power is the great fear of Congress and we, the people, should put that fear into them every day they serve.

Good for you that you are using the current economic situation to help enlighten your friends. That is quite responsible for a 15 year old. We must also acknowledge that in some cultures illegitimacy is considered a right of passage. I don't need to identify who I am speaking of here but it's certain that we are importing a lot of poverty with the broken immigration situation and that coupled with the absence of responsible fathers in the black community is a great tragedy for this nation. I don't mean for my comments to target just these two groups. There is plenty of white guilt to go around also. We don't need Bristol Palin on Greta condemning her Mom's efforts to preach abstinence because (in her words) "it's not realistic".
Even Michelle when she visits a failing inner-city school in DC must take the press with her to make certain that she gets all the coverage she requires to spotlight her generous spirit toward the students there. At the same, congress strips the DC residents of vouchers which would have allowed some of these kids to escape failing schools. What hypocrites!
