If its the 'Death Penalty" it needs to be DEATH, i.e. no more PSU football, PERIOD. Otherwise its still a slap on the wrist for such an awful series of events.

Because coal is heavy and it takes more locomotives (and fuel) to haul it up the side of a mountain than it takes to move it at water level routes.. That being said, if they were smart, BNSF would work on reducing grades on the little used Stampede Pass line and move some traffic to that route rather than the Stevens Pass or Columbia Gorge/Point Defiance line. Either way, rail traffic will increase in Western Washington, and that ultimately is a GOOD thing for our economy. Those 100 trains all require crews and support/,maintenence staff.

As for the concerns at Edmonds.. perhaps now would be the right time (BEFORE traffic increases) to partner with WSDOT, The Ferries, BNSF and the operators of the proposed terminal to rebuild the Ferry terminal so they do not have an at grade crossing of the tracks (and BNSF can add a second main line track)

I have had the displeasure of meeting Mr Rossi on a personal non-political level... and he indeed makes slime balls, used car salesmen, investment bankers, yesterdays fish heads, and pimps look good.

Another airline has the philosophy, and has had it since it was founded: "Our customers are not our number one priority. Our number one priority is our PEOPLE. If we take care of them, THEY will take care of our customers, and we will be a success."
Herb Kelleher, Founder Soutwest Airlines.

It looks like Herb knew what he was talking about!

I think that is one aspect of Timmy's approach that those of us who generally oppose his initiatives can agree on. He never proposes anything positive, its always Anti-this or Anti-that. Like the Legisltor that challanged him to actually find some of that "government waste" in the budget (that he wouldnt even look at) I dont think Timmy has evey thought of being proactive rather than reactive.

You know Sgt, I was just thinking about that. I dont have any hard numbers to back me up but I'll bet if one factors in the cost of all the cour challanges to Timmy's initiatives, the result would be a NET LOSS in capital for the state. Timmy actually COSTS us money, rather than saving any.
