I lived beside the Westland back in the day and attended the BRA. Monday to Friday was a running battle with the kids from Barney for the crime of wearing the "wrong uniform". At the weekend then it was the kids from the Westland for having the "wrong name"...

Looking back I feel like I was fighting every day of my life in Belfast, but as I said, gladly my own kids will never grow up understanding the same.

Well Hass, which had agreed proposals to resolve the same, was canned over Flegs... If people feel aggrieved over it they should vote accordingly in the next election!!!

"There was less police and military involved in the hunt for John Rambo in "First Blood""

Thumbs up for the Rambo reference alone!!!

I don't see why you have to go so far back trolling for ethnic cleansing in the North...

Members of my own family, in mixed marriages, were forced out of Graymount after Drumcree 1996. The locals decided enough was enough and they wouldn't have a Catholic around the place, even if they were married to Protestants.

Still things have improved in Belfast. In 1993 the UVF murdered a Peruvian woman at her home on the edge of Mount Vernon... Peru being a Catholic country and all.

Sectarianism in the North is an indefensible cancer that I'll be eternally grateful my children will never be exposed to!!!

So in 30 years time there'll be a clear Catholic voting majority. I wonder will the be Nationalist Catholics, or Unionist ones. Interestingly I should live to see arguments between Nationalist and Unionist Northern Irish Catholics on the topic of Irish Reunification... I bet flags and parades will never be mentioned once!!!

"which remains one of the most heinous crimes against humanity ever carried out in modern European terms."

I'm not saying it wasn't a terrible crime Drac, but with the ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia and Kosovo as a context... Heinous crime, yes. Crime against humanity, no.

"nationalists pushed the flags issue without reaching agreement"

Unionists + Agreement = Never

Anyway, the decision to remove the flag was a democratic one, if the majority of people don't like it vote for other representitives who will restore it. Otherwise accept the majority decision...

Nice to see Pete the Punt condemning it, as first minister, did he really need to have to put in the qualifier... "I may not agree with the Alliance Party on many issues but", or would he instead show some leadership on this and many other issues!!!

Pete the Punt cares about getting his seat back so that he can maintain his lifestyle is his guilded mansion far removed from the Plebs that vote for him. I'm more surprised that the UUP are complicit in the same given that they have nothing to gain from it... You'd think they'd be better off appealing to Alliance voters for transfers rather than siding with the mob, who don't vote for them anyway!!! I'm sure it's all part of Mike TV's "Master Plan" to seemingly destroy the UUP.
