Although, I for one wouldn't know how to keep the fact that Reek is Theon in the dark for the TV series, where you can see him.
And yes, the last scene made me uncomfortable too.
*slight spoilers ahead*
Since I read the books and know how it continues, you could argue that this is the beginning of a deconstruction of the white saviour trope... But yeah, you still have the masses of brown people worshipping a blond and white person here.

Call me a cynic, but from what I've heard and seen of TV in both the US and Germany, that seems to be the modus operandi for most of what passes as entertainment nowadays.

There's also been discussions about removing the non-derivatives and non-commercial clauses from the CC 4.0 licenses (currently in draft stage), exactly because they run counter to the Free Culture idea CC is supposed to embody.

I read it in English class (in 9th grade, IIRC), and for me, it was the first contact with the reality that racism (outside of Nazi Germany) is not a thing of the distant past (I know, I was even more naive back then).
I see your point, though.

I guess you're not all too fond of the actual work that is kneading shortcrust pastry, folding in beaten egg whites, forming and arranging crumbles and/or skinning and quartering dozens of apples, either then?
That, and the time you have to wait between steps, especially when doing a cream-based gateaux (for the base to cool down, the cream to stiffen, etc.) feels like a bit of a drag to me too, but nothing I can't get over with music or a podcast playing in the background. Also, I just love the resulting cake too much. :)
Of course, YMMV.

How can I not; I mean, the result is delicious cake (my only regret is that lately, I've not had the time to experiment, and dozens of photos of the same damn cake would look silly). :)
Although, I don't use measuring cups. Being an European, recipes here are in metric units, with flour, etc. measured by weight and not by volume, so I've got some trusty kitches scales. So that might be a compromise of sorts for you, no? :P
