I have a similar personal story - in 9th grade I wanted to be a fashion designer. Luckily, I had some positive experiences with science and technology in high school and ended up in the tech field. Most high school kids (boys and girls) don't really know what engineering is, and most don't know how awesome it can be. Most high school girls don't have positive female role models in science and engineering. The heart of the Nerd Girls movement is trying to change this. I am one of the Nerd Girls (Lauren) and I run the twitter account (@nerdgirls).

I hope that people still thing 23+ is sexy, all of the girls currently featured on the site are over 23! Joking aside, Nerd Girls isn't about being sexy, its about being smart, confident, and being yourself. The age range was implemented because the nerd girls team thinks college aged girls will be a sweet spot as far as providing role models that high school girls will respond to.

Bisect an angle was made up by the marketing team. The integral of e to the x times y (Sexy) was from one of the real nerds :)
