SEE? I'M NOT GOING INSANE AFTER ALL! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH....heh.

I loved BUBBA HO-TEP, but I can see how if I'd just read the script, I might have found it one-joke and too stupid. Anyway, I'm going to set this one aside, cause I want to be surprised by the movie.

Maybe I'm going insane, but I saw some comments in the "latest comments" sidebar that I couldn't access and aren't there anymore - I responded to one by a Mike Ock that opined that you shouldn't review B movie scripts here.

Thanks for clarifying bonzo, I forgot all about that part!

Yeah, but we didn't know that when the signs appeared - it was done simply to create interest about the world of the movie, and it obviously succeeded, even if it was misinformation in a way. Or maybe there are command centers in District 9 with areas off-limits to aliens. I don't remember seeing any signs in the movie, but I might have missed them or forgotten, there was a lot of visual information to take in.

a) aargh I can't see the comments although I can see the "last comments" on the right - until I click on them. Anybody else having that problem?

b) why shouldn't there be reviews of B movie scripts? DISTRICT 9 is a B movie done very well, and for me it's actually preferable to most of the so-called A movies that deal with prejudice - I can't even remember any right now. Moreover, as a storyteller-in-training, I want to look at a variety of genres here.

Here's a few I like that haven't been mentioned: "Screenwriting" by Richard Walter, "The Writer's Journey" by Chris Vogler, and "101 Habits of Highly Successful Screenwriters" by Karl Iglesias. I recently glanced through "Inside Story" by Dara Marks and was pretty impressed - I have too many screenwriting books that I read when I should be writing already, but that'll be the next one I buy.

"I didn't like Loeb's last movie "21". Great book the movie's based on, but the Hollywood version felt so .... Hollywood."

It might have gotten dumbed down in development or production. He also wrote "Things We Lost in The Fire," a movie I disliked intensely, but I heard - probably here - that the script is much better than the movie.
