He did play "Easy Reader" on the Electric Company...
Like I said - people like Krugman (and Ltrs perhaps) don't understand what leadership is and don't recognize leadership when they see it...they describe it in terms they are familiar with, "staring in disbelief", "running" and "cowardice" for example...
What Mayor Guilliani and President Bush displayed that day 10 years ago was not heroics (real or fake). It was leadership. Something that people like Krugman do not understand nor recognize. It was courage. Again something that people like Krugman do not understand nor recognize. No comments for obvious reasons indeed...
"HARUMPF!, HARUMPF!, Give the Governor a HARUMPF!"
yes the military is an "out of school group"...this has nothing to do with respect or disrespect. It is about following the rules...members of the profession of arms have no problem with this. Too many people are looking for a fight over a slight that does not exist. I'd be disappointed in a school that changed a policy like this over one or two student's feelings getting hurt and a bunch of people who do not understand what the real issue is weighing in with a public outcry unrelated to the issue at hand.
Military regulations (unless they have changed dramatically in the past few years, and they may have) forbid the wear of the service uniform to a non-military even unless the person is there representing the military in an official capacity. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines can't wear their uniforms as individuals in protests, parades, or other events, so they shouldn't wear their uniforms to their high school graduation.
Pick something else to be upset about, there are plenty to pick from, this one is not it.
These stories are not about military pride or fairness. They are about three young people who do not yet get it. These three young people are about to get a unpleasant surprise if they think the organizations that they have joined are going to be "fair" about much of anything, especially when it comes to what they "feel like wearing." Those organizations are about conformity to a standard. The wear of the uniform is just an easy to measure outward manifestation of that conformity. As for the Marine - she will learn very quickly what those standards are especially concerning the uniform of the day...not even sure what the new uniform regulations are, but I don''t think she is even authorized to wear her service uniform to a high school graduation since it is not an official military function and she is not there as an official representative of the Corps ( I cede that discussion to a current and/or knowledgeable Devil Dog).
The other two just signed up for service and got a sash, that is great but if it is not authorized for wear on their "uniform," in this case the cap and gown, then it is unauthorized. I hope they do not expect to wear their national honor society sash with their service uniform...
Joining a military service means keeping your opinions and feelings to yourself in most cases and demonstrating rule following behavior. If they cannot follow an easy rule like this one, they are not likely to do well in the armed services.
I wonder what happened to "I will never show it" out of respect for his family? I hope he did not show it to two radio shock jocks and expect them not to show it. Now that it is out there and associated with Andrew leaking it - it undermines AB's credibility. The haters will just point to this and say Andrew is a liar even though someone else leaked it...If they wanted to see it they should have contacted the girls it went to initially. AB should not be showing it to anyone. I'm kinda disappointed that it is out the next day after he said he would not show it. I hope this is inaccurate. Waiting for an update from one of the Bigs...
Your juvenile all caps assertions are annoying. Like "yelling" your point makes it more valid. State your point and wait for the other party's assertions, offer your rebuttals etc...it is called reasoned discourse, something that is neither taught nor learned in this day and age. How a movie review of Thor got here stands as a testament of how strange the human race is. However I must point out that the Bible does not say that Adam and Eve were the only people God created - just the first...
And your attack on people of faith is neither called for nor appreciated. You are free to believe or not believe what you like and if you could prove everything in the universe there would be no need for "faith"
As to your later assertions that "myths" cannot be explained by science - where have you been looking for your facts to support this assertion? If the Bible is nothing more than a collection of "myths" that cannot be explained by science, how do you explain all of the archeological evidence that supports some of these "myths" that have been uncovered over the last century?
Back on Topic: Thor was very entertaining and I don't think this reviewer/critic saw the same movie I saw. "Frozen Giants" - please...I wonder if he realizes that this is a movie about a Marvel comic book that took as source material the names, places and events from Norse mythology?
My opinion on the photos - don't release them. If you don't release them and the radical islamic world wants to keep believing he is still alive, great. They will continue to wait for more guidance from their sacred leader and it will never come...in time it will be Osama who? So what if someone else steps up and says they are him? The "street" are a bunch of sheep that can be whipped into a frenzy by a charismatic imam at a mosque, especially ones with photos of "The Martyr" killed by the infidel Americans...the real leaders in their culture believe that we got Osama and they are not wanting to volunteer to be next; if we can get him we can get anyone we want to get. As for the US side of the equation, how is your life different by seeing or not seeing the photos if he is really dead? The conspiracy theorists are not going to believe any photo released, real or not...the only way to win it to not play the game...
And on a completely different line of reasoning why give some crazy world court, anti-US group "evidence" for a murder trail against the US Special Ops team that got him. Stop and think about it before you say it would never happen. Just my thoughts...unfortunately the current administration does not seem to have put half as much thought into any of their decisions about this operation so far.
Someone needs to contact Sprint and let them know that their ads are on this disgusting excuse for a website...
