Sorry, I should have been more explicit. I was refering to your Medina link. She was pelted with eggs, not stones.

What really bothers me is seeing my fellow human beings using superstition- and myth-based "identities" to place themselves apart from and above the rest of humanity. It's childish and stupid.

Identity schmidentity. Try getting a personality instead.

The niqab is only superficially about "morals and virtue" or "modesty". It actually has the opposite effect in that it hypersexualses the female body by reducing it to a purely sexual object.

It is also sometimes used as a very ostentatious display of modesty.

Banning the burka is unacceptably illiberal, but its use can be discouraged with societal pressure.

My suggestion: a winking campaign. If you see a woman in a burka, give her a smile and a wink. This friendly gesture undermines the "modesty" purpose of the garment, discomfits the wearer, and makes a point. It is also appropriately patronising.

In the event of this being met with the outraged question "Why did you wink at me?", simply reply: "I like burkas."

Wink at a burka today!

He didn't apologise. He expressed 'sorrow' and 'anguish', and offered his 'sympathy'.

But the bastard couldn't bring himself to apologise.
