The Matthew Shepard Act was signed by President Obama almost a year ago (10/28/09). Can anyone tell me where all those victimized pastors are incarcerated? Surely, there must be hundreds if not thousands. After all, Mr. Perkins and Mr. Fischer assured us that the purpose of Hate Crimes laws was to criminalize biblical bigotry. According to Tony "What 'hate crimes' legislation does is lay the legal foundation and framework for investigating, prosecuting and persecuting pastors, business owners, and anyone else whose actions reflect their faith."
Where and when did all those prosecutions take place?

The "sole arbiter" proposition is baloney. My opinions are mine.
I am quite familiar with ID. As the courts have ruled ( Kitzmiller v. Dover), ID is repackaged creationism.
It has no more scientific basis than astrology. Again, I suspect that Mr. Goldwater would have f fully agreed that science and critical thinking belong in the classroom in contrast to religious indoctrination.

I think that Mr. Goldwater would be in complete agreement. The religious right and its excessive involvement in politics is, in my opinion, a serious threat to liberty.
I do NOT subscribe to the belief that people of faith are stupid. I just don't want them to be an extension of government in my bedroom, hospital, laboratory or school.

The fight over Evolution is a very good example. Intelligent design is an effort by the religious right to introduce scripture over science in our schools. As it is, our students perform FAR below the 30 largest industrialized countries. Thus when people attempt to dumb down our children with scriptural indoctrination they are RELIGIOUS CRAZIES.

Does Mr. Obama simply not understand why we would find this so offensive? Is there a gay adviser even being consulted on these issues? Where is Mehta?

"Warren represents the absolute worst of the Democrats' religious outreach, a right-winger masquerading as a do-gooder anointed as the arbiter of what it means to be faithful. Obama's religious outreach was intended, supposedly, to make religious voters more comfortable with him and feel included in the Democratic Party. But that outreach now has come at the expense of other people's comfort and inclusion, at an event meant to mark a turning point away from divisive politics."

Ultimately, this sends a message of tone deafness. I am still very hopeful for the future accomplishments of an Obama Presidency. This decision REALLY hurt.

"Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix."
Sound familiar? As a gay American, I am deeply disturbed over Rick Warren. Were Rick Warren a segregationist, we would not be having this discussion. You are stuck with him now. You need to find a way to dilute your validation of a bigot. This goes WELL beyond Proposition 8. Warren has likened us to pedophiles. He has regurgitated the talking points of the widely discredited Paul Cameron and he has knowingly lied about Prop 8 silencing ministers.
