I served in the US Army from 1987 to 1994. One of the many factors that led to my decision to leave was the fact that , even then, political correctness had pervaded the military and, as a white male, I was treated like a second class citizen, and all indicators were that it was only going to get worse.

My ASVAB scores qualified me for any MOS, and I wound up with 2 of them in completely different fields - aviation and MI. I graduated at or near the top of every military training course I attended, including the Defense Language Institute. My goal isn't to impress - just to demonstrate that I wasn't some flunky who couldn't compete and holds a grudge against the military. I was able to overcome any obstacle that was put in front of me, but a series of experiences told me that it was time to leave. The last 2 were the straws that broke the proverbial camel's back. The first was when a friend and coworker was drummed out of the Army when 2 pre-teen dependents accused him of calling them a racial epithet. He asked them to leave an area they weren't supposed to be in, and they told their mother that he told them they weren't allowed to be there because they were ni. . . s. On the uncorroborated word of two preteens, a soldier with over $1 million dollars worth of training was tossed out. The second intolerable event was being asked to fill in for our company's PAC sergeant while she went out on maternity leave. It was bed enough that she had spent the previous 8 months dodging every duty possible, but now she was going to get 2 months of maternity leave for free! To add insult to injury, the little darling she was about to squeeze out was number FIVE. I did the math and figured out that in this woman's ten year career, she had spent five full years on restricted duty and maternity leave! Despite that fact, she had still promoted at the pace of her cohort. Two months later, I took advantage of an opportunity and got he hell out.

The military brass seems all too willing to sew the seeds of the military's own destruction. They looked the other way when a muslim major freely expressed his hatred for the United States, had regular contact with a known terrorist, and they allowed him to kill 13 fellow soldiers and injure 32 others. They've destroyed the career of a cream-of-the-crop naval aviator/aircraft carrier commander because he made 'anti-homosexual' comments six years before DADT was repealed; and they've prosecuted honorable men for carrying out their duty to protect and defend themselves and their comrades. If it isn't clear that the military is hell bent on its own destruction, you just aren't paying attention.

"Put it this way, if the DON'T repeal nobamacare, the newly elected will find themselves out of a job. The Republicans were elected by a landslide on their promises to do just this---get rid of the socialism that this administration and the dumbokrauts have let slip in the door."

The problem is, the Republicans knew they wouldn't have enough votes to repeal Obamacare, even after the mid-term elections. So, by telling everyone that they were going to repeal it between now and 2012, they made a promise that they could not keep. They screwed themselves, and us, for the 2012 elections.

I like it - force the Dems to vote for repeal. That MAY be possible.

But defunding isn't repeal. All defunding will do is leave the legislation in place until the next time the liberals get back into power - then we're screwed.

I'd love for them to repeal Obamacare, but do the Republicans even have the votes needed to repeal it? It's been a long time since my American Government class, but I thought it required a super-majority in both the house and senate to repeal a federal law. Since they don't have the required votes, and won't until at least January, 2013 (if they don't screw the pooch between now and then), I think all this talk of repeal has been nothing more than a bunch of hot air.

Here's how I see this whole thing playing out. The vast majority of sitting Republican lawmakers have absolutely no intention of curbing their spending, but they were forced to talk the talk because much of the American electorate had reached their limit with all the fraud, waste, and abuse by the government. They modified their rhetoric and started all this talk of repeal, even though they all knew that the likelihood of being able to do so (even after the mid-term elections) was going to be almost nil. At the same time, they started to talk about de-funding the provisions of Obamacare so they would have a defensible fall-back position when the American public finally figures out that repeal is all but impossible. Assuming they do de-fund it, eventually the liberals will regain control of the government and they will forget to de-fund it, and the American people will be on the hook to provide all the layabouts with 'free' health care.

I hate to say it, folks, but greed and corruption on the part of politicians has combined with sloth and stupidity on the part of the majority of the American people to drive a stake through the heart of the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Or, maybe, in the event of attack, he'll open his filthy pie hole and envelope the entire country in an impenetrable cloud of BS. Seems to confuse a lot of people, so why not missiles?

Why don't people understand that? The Russians would NEVER sign or abide by a treaty that they thought would somehow limit their options. I'm afraid the idiots are in charge.
