Arnold took office believing in his own characters. But his celebrity paled in comparison to the CA State Legislature. After getting his ass handed to him in the first special election he called, he went into "go along to get along" mode. But in the beginning, I believe he really tried. More than an Action Hero is needed to save California from itself.

I guess you have to lay the blame at the Chief Executive's feet for tripling of the State's deficits, but the real blame is with the entrenched one party, union dominated Legislature that never met a new tax it didn't like. In One Party Rule California, it doesn't really matter anymore who the Governor is.

That being said, I was an Arnold fan since the early days when I had almost every movie he made on lazer disc, yes a long time ago. Yes I admired this immigrant that came to the USA without two nickels to rub together and made such a success of himself.

And like the rest of you, he is a shame to me now, but not as much because of his cheating on Maria, but because of the commutation of the sentence of Fabian Nunez's son. In that case he was cheating on all of us.

Mathews et al have very short memories. I remember 8 years of relentless Bush bashing, and let's not forget what they did to Sarah Palin during the 2008 Presidential Elections. I'd like to see some clips of Matthews with the shoe on the other foot. They made some very personal attacks. Using CM's reasoning here, were he and the other liberals against Bush because he was white and Sarah Palin because she was a woman?
