She was hot-looking in the early 30s. Sometime in the late 30s she started to get scary looking, and it continued from then on.
I guess this means Stanwyck has to be in the top three.

I think there may be a rights issue involved. I don't think Universal actually owns it....I think MGM bought all the other versions when they made the 50s version. I don't know for sure.
Another reason to put this on DVD is that it may be James Whale's best film (non-horror, anyway).

My second-favorite actress of all time. Of course everyone will mention CASABLANCA but don't forget her performances in DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, GASLIGHT, SPELLBOUND, and NOTORIOUS.
