This is a great step forward for our community, I hope its only one of many in the very near future.
Do we know how many registered voters live in Rome? I don't believe it is that many. Also as far as being the Mayor, the person with the most votes will get the job, if this is not the will of the people then what is? Apathy is a vote against oneself but nevertheless if only 8,000 people voted then the person who gets 4001 votes or greater is the duly elected person and Mayor of Rome. But to put this into the proper context in 1999 Joe Griffo won the mayors race with 68% of the roughly 9,000 votes casted that year; since then the population has decreased in the city so this is not an unexpected number of voters, at least not to me.
He was issued an apparence ticket, so this means this man who just assulted an 11 year old was free to go back and do it again. WOW!!!!
It would take two officers less then one second to fire off ten shots, they did not even come close to firing all of their rounds. The officer did their jobs correctly here, they were faced with what appeared to be a life or death situation and took the appropriate actions. It is very sad for everyone, these officers have to live with the fact that they took the life of a young man/kid who ended up not having a gun, and the family of the victim has to live the loss of a loved one at such a young age; very tragic all the way around.
Thats what got this baby killed, lets end the violence not promote it.
Wow 12 years for murder and the "person" feels no remorse for it, that's the way to send a message.
This is the same guy who was convicted of murdering the Two Guys in The Riverside Mall Parking Lot several years ago, I think it was 1992 or 1993, we can see that he really learned his lesson. He was also arrested for stealing GPS systems form Best Buy a couple of years back. Three Strikes and your out we can only hope.
How sad for everyone. I pray for both of the families involved in the tragedy.
I am quite sure that this money came from his campaign coffers and not tax payer money. Anyway it his job to represent the people of NY and how do you expect him to do so if he does not come and talk to us and learn about our needs, I am happy he cares enough about the Utica area to come up here a lot more then any other Senator I can remember. Would you rather have an absent Senator that does not care what we think or one that comes around to meet their constituents on a regular basis.
