Saw this movie Friday. I really liked it. The climactic fight scene at the end alone was worth it and cleverly done.

For myself, I used to buy DVDs often. As the economy slowed down, I purchased far less. Soon I found I didn't need to buy DVDs at all, and rarely wanted Blu-Rays.

It's probably the worst thing that could happen to the film industry: We've discovered we can live without them.

I'm a sucker for superhero films. I even watched "Green Lantern" against all warnings against such activity. Heck, I even went to "Ghost Rider" knowing it'd be just as bad as it was.

Joss has respectable credentials for this sort of movie, and with a budget to boot. I think he can pull it off, and there's enough here that I hope in the long run, Ruffalo's comments will be similar to those we heard about Captain America -- just progressive apologies for making such an enjoyable movie.

Yeah, I'm the guy kickin' the trend, but conservative as I am, I'm still going to see this film. I'm not letting some liberal ruin things for me any more than they tried to ruin Captain America for me. It didn't work then, either.

But then, I'm a stubborn cuss.

This has been a particularly poor season for movies. I'm used to the promise of some decent viewing in the holidays from Thanksgiving until the New Year, but there's just been dreck released week after week. When I've no desire to see anything, it's clear they've not even tried to put out a good product.

I am waiting for the Sherlock Holmes and Tintin films. Anything else just doesn't seem worth it.

There's enough in that trailer to make me interested. I'll bite.

Actually, I like these recaps. It's nice to know someone at Big Hollywood is watching this drivel so I don't have to do it.

My naive hope is that this will serve another lesson as to why print media isn't dying merely because of the availability of news on the internet, but also because of its rather biased reporting of which we've become aware over time. When given a choice, most people will choose media that doesn't insult their intelligence.

Of course this lesson won't catch much traction with progressives. Liberals are never wrong.

I think Community is one of the best comedies I've seen in a while. It regularly makes me laugh, is brilliantly cast, and well-written. Also, I haven't seen a single show of it on the air. I've either watched it on streaming or downloaded episodes with iTunes. If anything, I think our rating system is quickly becoming defunct. I stream and DVR episodes of television I want to see more often than not any more. I rarely watch anything as it airs, and nowadays there's multiple ways to watch anything. The ratings system was created before we had as many options as we do, and I seriously doubt it's managed to keep up with the current methods of viewing at a satisfactory pace.

I'm still looking forward to this movie. I've read many of the books and enjoyed them all.

Was there racism in some of his work? Possibly -- it's been too long since I last read them and if I did notice any I'd have not worried too much about an aberration within a book of adventure, mystery, and daring-do. The trailers have so far piqued my curiosity and I'm pretty enthused about seeing these come to life.

Whitewashing past works to make them more "acceptable" does us no good. Instead of encouraging self-examination as human beings, as nations, and as communities, it encourages us to ignore the past and avoid the difficult questions. It's a post-modern impulse that encourages the idea that we are better, more evolved human beings today.
