Do me a favor and google "Operation Northwoods" and read the document itself. Dont worry about any commentary. Come up with your own thoughts. That is one document that led me to the position I'm taking. I also agree with your statement about Christians needing to be involved in the running of this country. Governments are only as good as the people you put in them.
I believe we have to be a light on OUR hill. I want America to be the envy of the world because we stand for something that is morally right, not because we have the power or force. I believe you and I are on the same side and agree on many things. It's hard to know each other from just one post.

I have recently wondered, as a Christian, where patriotism fits in with the Bible and how I should view my citizenship (whether my citizenship in Heaven overrides my citizenship in the US). Personally, I have concluded that I must be for the truth at all times. One day I will die. Holding back the truth may extend my life and I may escape judgment on earth, but it only delays the inevitable...I still die and I still will be judged in the end. Is it worth losing my soul? I'm not sure God is worried about one country versus another. What is patriotism to God? What should it be to us? Nations have risen and fallen just like men when they are born and then die. Maybe our focus should be more on the eternal attributes of God such as compassion, mercy, redemption...and truth.
I may be wrong and I can accept that. If anyone can show me otherwise BIBLICALLY, I will apologize and be thankful for you showing me the error of my ways.
